Tokyo Auto Salon 2009: Lexus LFA

After we have exhilarated over two years, Lexus finally lifted the veil on his first GT, the LFA.

Prefigured by the first concept car at the Salon to Detroit 2007 follow-up of a roadster version the following year , the super sports played at the Toyota Arlesienne. At the height of the crisis in early 2009, rumors have even run on the outright abandonment of the project. The cause of the development costs too high.

Finally, the luxury brand of Toyota has cleared for marketing a futuristic coupe lines, as if to remind that Lexus may also give the sports car and not only in the hybrid. Before you can be a mix of both in the coming years.

What is obvious at first is the original line that makes the Lexus LFA genuine automotive sculpture.

Whether in the design of the headlights of the bow almost triangular as well as multiple air inlets, impressive on the stern where they extend from top to bottom. The side air vents on both skirts cash at the level of small window are all simply spectacular as are the rear wing when deployed.

Inside, the dashboard and center console are particularly futuristic plunging. The integration of multimedia screen located midway is rather successful.

Under the hood, Lexus is not in the lace with a V10 4.8 height of 560 hp and 480 Nm mated to a six-speed sequential, this block boasts a 0-100km / h in 3.7 seconds and a speed maximum of 325 mph!

Long 4.50 m and a height of 1.22 m, this strict two-seater weighs just 1480 kg - much as a Porsche Carrera 4S - since it has a chassis and a body made partially composite FRP , a material combining plastic and carbon fiber.

On the technical side, the Lexus LFA brings in 20-inch wheels fitted with ceramic brakes with a diameter of 390 mm and a thickness of 34 mm front to 306 X 28 mm at the rear.

The manufacturing nippon also developed a triple exhaust central intending to produce a specific sound close to Formula 1.

I bet that even at $ 325,000 - or 234,000 euros - there will be many fans around the world. They will however occur quickly to be among the happy customers who will be selected next year to be able to afford one of 500 copies provided.
