Sony Ericsson goes Android with an X10-oriented social networks
With a 1GHz processor and an 8 Megapixel sensor, the smartphone Xperia X10 Android 1.6 arrives in early 2010.
We know now that the future Android mobile Sony Ericsson called X10, X3 is not as expected, and will be available "in selected markets" from the first quarter of 2010. Its price has not yet been set.
Like Motorola and its Dexter, the transition from Sony Ericsson designed the system Android by Google is obviously a salvation for a manufacturer in decline. Much is expected of X10, firstly because the sheet is appealing, partly because the group will put all its expertise in the entertainment 135g technology and add an important social component, again the image of what Motorola has done recently.
If Sony Ericsson is based on Android, the manufacturer has developed over the house system, a layer known as code Rachael, prosaically renamed UX, supposedly combine entertainment features and social services to a sophisticated graphical interface. New applications such as Timescape and Mediascape have been developed for this purpose.
Timescape centrally manages the business contacts of several social sites like Facebook and Twitter as well as mail and photos. Mediascape uses the same principle but is devoted to multimedia content such as YouTube or PlayNow Arena, the application store from Sony Ericsson, as well as those on the SD card in the phone. A video presentation of Timescape and Mediascape is available here. So much for software innovations expected.
Regarding equipment, we look at the general Sony Ericsson. The unit, whose thickness does not exceed 1.3 cm, capacitive loads a screen of 10.1 inches diagonal with a definition, large, 854 x 480 pixels. The processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz with integrated graphics (this is probably the best currently) is supported by 1 GB of memory. What install a proper package of applications taken at the Android Market. The camera, a 8.1 Megapixel autofocus developed by touch, detects faces and smiles. It is stabilized. As for telecommunications, is the classic: a 3.5G connection, an adapter Wi-Fi b / g and Bluetooth AD2P link.
In short, the picture seems idyllic, except that the X10 seems to be equipped with version 1.6 (Donut) enlightened time of Android, the new version 2.0 will be available at launch. Not a word, either, on the Free Application for GPS guidance that Google will launch, but there is no reason that this highly anticipated software can be installed on the X10.
