Google Wave

Google stops Wave, «the mall of the 21st » Century
Brought to you by Google as one of his most innovative, collaborative tool Wave did not attract the Internet. Its development is stopped.

«What look like e-mail if it were invented today? Our answer to this question is Google Wave. » By introducing this new project, 28 May 2009, Jens Rasmussen placed the bar very high.

Almost fourteen months later, one of the developers of Wave is disillusioned. Google announced in effect that ends this experiment collaborative tool developed as open source.

«Wave has not been as successful as we hoped to users. We do not intend to pursue the development of Wave as a product in itself, but we continue to maintain the site at least until the end of the year [...] »says the American blog. The announcement is somewhat surprising then that the project was still part of the main topics of discussion at the last conference Google I / O, bringing together developers from around the world.

Buzz orchestrated
Very ambitious project combines Wave in a Web browser and e-mail functions (invented it nearly forty years ago), adding those collaborative tools, chat, content sharing, social networking, etc.. Attractive on paper, Wave has proved indigestible to use, often called the gas plant, despite the interest it has generated. At the launch, Google also cleverly organized the buzz distilling trickle of invitations to the service, the form of sponsorship.

The U.S. has, however, reuse of software components Wave in his other projects. Essential functions, such as «drag and drop», the real-time display of keyboard input are also available to all developers in open source, says Google. The company also plans to provide users with tools to erase their data on Wave. You can not joke with personal data.
