12x Blu-ray Announced by Sony




Sony Optiarc, a branch of Sony that specializes in data storage solutions, has unveiled a new Blu-ray.

Known as the reference BWU-500S, this Blu-ray is an internal model to install in a 5.25-inch and connect to SATA.

It can burn BD-R 12x, BD-R DL 8x, BD-RE 2x, DVD-R 16x, DVD + R 16x, DVD-R DL 8x, DVD + R DL 8x , 6x DVD-RW, DVD + RW 8x, 12x DVD-RAM, 48x CD-R and CD-RW 24x, whilst it allows playback of BD-ROM 8x, DVD-ROM 16x and 48x CD-ROM.

Accompanied by Cyberlink Media Software Suite Suite 8, which includes tools for high definition video playback, backup and burn, the Blu-ray Sony BWU-500S will be available later this month.
