At Bose, we also have the sense of staging. The light goes out, the demonstrations began. Sound, powerful, emerges on the left, right, bounces, filled the room and envelops us. A very good home theater system 5.1-, five speakers and a subwoofer, but for now, we see nothing revolutionary. One by one, fabrics hiding the speakers fall off, revealing ... nothing! Absolutely nothing. It remains as the screen on the wall, yet the sound continues to invade the room. Bose engineers have managed to integrate an entire home theater in a television, creating the VideoWave System. As explained Cavajal Santiago, director of video products from Bose, «we are the first to be able to combine image and sound in one product without compromising on neither one nor the other». The set is impressive compactness. A TV, a cable connected to a control box, and that's it. Bose thus marks the end of unsightly cables running throughout the room.
Unique remote control
To go after simplification, Bose engineers have also tackled the remote. Today, everyone has a host home for the TV, the Blu-ray, the satellite receiver or for the home theater system. An average of fifty button remote control multiplied by five models leads to 250 different buttons. With VideoWave System, Bose has developed a unique remote control, a biblical simplicity, capable of controlling all sources (Blu-ray, iPods, satellite box ...) to be connected to the base system, with a maximum of five. Outside of a few buttons the most used (sound, strings, start), everything goes through the square at the center touch the remote. Just the touch of a finger that controls the selected source on the TV (see photo). Simple and effective.
With the solutions it provides, simplicity, efficiency, lack of cables, a single command, the system is terribly desirable VideoWave. Only the screen is visible. While the sound system, a subwoofer and seven speakers, is built into the screen itself. Based on the few pictures we were shown, the quality of the TV seems at best. We will of course validate this first impression with our laboratory testing. The only false note, any design too, a simple black frame as standard in all models provides entry-level. Difficult to justify for a product sold nearly 9500 USD.
To be able to produce the VideoWave, dozens of engineering research center Bose worked for ten years, found solutions to all problems and responded to the challenge which had been launched «to make the most efficient audio / video , no wider than the screen itself and maximizing ease of use. » Mission accomplished.
