A good sleep for young children reduce the risk of obesity

A very serious study has shown that sleep is precious our little ones: long nights reduce the risk of obesity among the smallest. However, naps have no effect.

Baby is small nights? Take matters into your hands! Because according to an American study, the sleep debt incurred during the first years of life would be a true risk factor for obesity. And do not count on a nap to compensate for lost sleep at night ...

Many studies have highlighted the link between lack of sleep and obesity. In this particular case, teams from several U.S. universities have highlighted the role of sleep until the age of five years.

It is the night that sleep is important

«In infants, shorter nights promote the development of overweight and obesity, says Janice Bell of the University of Washington in Seattle. However, we have not observed the same correlation in children 5-13 years.»

The author recommends that parents care about how much sleep their children: It is a risk factor for obesity modifiable. She also advises not to rely on naps to compensate for lost sleep. «The siesta is in no way a substitute and has no effect on the development of obesity. »
