LaCie Wireless Space: The wireless network storage



LaCie's specialized storage solutions, presented the Wireless Space a LaCie NAS server with advanced networking features and operating wireless.

If all boxes are alike with LaCie shelled black glossy design and elegant, designed by Neil Poulton, the LaCie Wireless Space is, however a little different. Indeed, it has the particularity of not requiring any wires to run. And its rather comprehensive networking features are a direct competitor to Apple's Time Capsule. Especially since it is cheaper.
Router, access point Wi-Fi and HDD


Router Gigabit Internet, multimedia hard drive LaCie Wireless Space has three modes pre-configured to create an access point Wi-Fi N-type (but not Dual Band). It allows sharing capabilities with other devices in its vicinity (printer, computer ...). To top it off, the NAS server is available in 1TB and 2TB versions, thus making it a very comfortable storage device. Furthermore, the model supports the backup feature Apple's Time Machine. The Wireless Space has the DLNA standard.

Connectors

The Wireless Space has a nice network hub with 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports (one is reserved for a DSL / cable). Three USB 2.0 complete the appliance with embedded hard drive offers RAID function. The power supply is separate. From 290 USD


The LaCie NAS Wireless Wireless Space (117 x 45 x 193 mm for 950 grams) is expected shortly. It was announced at respective rates of 290 and 430 USD depending on whether one opts for a version 1TB or 2TB. What make a real Time Capsule Killer!
