Samsung's HDD industry S2 portable USB 3.0, The S2 Portable disks evolve into the new USB interface and to accelerate their speed during rotation.
The USB 3.0 will become commonplace in 2011, but almost all manufacturers anticipate the movement this year. For now, only a few high-end computers are equipped with a USB 3.0 controller (model manufactured by NEC in large majority). But others can still use their USB 2.0 ports, obviously compatible, but slower.
Disks 7200 rpm
And may as well have as much advantage of the USB 3.0 to the end. Samsung has decided to place 2.5-inch hard drives running at 7200 rpm, to best exploit the vast bandwidth of the interface (5 Gbit / s theoretical cons 480 Mbps for USB 2.0). Suddenly, these discs S2 Portable USB 3.0 should flirt with the 100 MB / s transfer large files, and offer better performance with small files and medium size.
These drives are equipped with Dynamic Balancing Technology (vibration), SilentSeek (noise reduction) and NoiseGuard (protection of the playhead). Their case, however, remains strictly identical to that of previous models on USB 2.0. The new S2 Portable USB 3.0 will be available this September in version 320 GB and 640 GB, the price is not yet specified.
