Sharp invests touch pads and content distribution

The Japanese automaker introduced the Galapagos, which combines tablets Android and distribution services of digital publications.

The electronics group Sharp launches into the tablet: the Japanese giant Galapagos introduced a range touch running the Google Android. Both formats will be offered initially: 27 and 14 cm diagonal (10.8 and 5.5 inches) respectively with resolutions of 1366 x 800 and 1024 x 600 pixels. Formats that allow it to compete with both Apple iPad for larger shelves and Dell and Samsung Galaxy Tab Streak for the smaller models.

At these terminals, Sharp combines a delivery service of digital publications (e-books, newspapers, magazines) which bear the same name as tablets. It will initially be offered in Japan from December and will be extended to the United States and Europe thereafter. The manufacturer has a certain legitimacy in the field of e-books because its format is XMDF which became the benchmark for the Japanese market, one of the largest consumers of electronic publications in the world.
