World auto: Mercedes and Renault unveil electric

Opening today, the Paris Motor makes electric cars featured. Here is Zoe, Renault and Mercedes A Class.

In 2009 already, the IAA had spent the beginnings of a future electric cars. Mercedes-Benz presented Thursday at the opening of the Paris Motor show in Paris, the 100% electric version of its Class A This green city will be offered from this autumn through leasing contracts, France, Germany and the Netherlands.

The Renault boss Carlos Ghosn, unveiled pre-production version of Zoe, a small city which constitute the mainstay of the group's strategy for electric vehicles. Dubbed, with English, Zoe Preview this vehicle to 90% foreshadows the final version of the Zoe ZE, which will be produced by mid-2012 in France.

Presented at the Frankfurt show in September 2009 as a concept car, the Zoe (agree that the name is more beautiful with an accent on e) approximation to reality. Preview version exhibited at the Paris closely resembles that which goes on sale in two years, said the CEO of French carmaker.

Zoe's Preview, which displays 4.09 meters long, is equipped with an electric motor 60 kW (80 hp), and lithium-ion batteries offering a range of 160 km. The recharge time will be between six and eight hours from a household outlet, and about thirty minutes for 80% of the battery from a public terminal rapid charge.

According to Carlos Ghosn, the Zoe ZE represent two thirds of sales of Renault's electric vehicles. The range ZE group will also include a sedan (Fluence ZE) and a utility (Kangoo ZE), both marketed from next year the respective rates of 23,100 and 15,000 euros HT (with a rental cost of battery 79 and 72 euros per month) and a compact urban two-seater.
