Optoma 3D-XL

3D on the big screen with the Optoma 3D box-XL
Optoma is inconceivable that the 3D on the big screen and will put the DLP 3D plan with its new housing.

Those who think that 3D on a 40 inch TV has no interest will be delighted to learn that Optoma is the same opinion as them. And the manufacturer announces the release of a box next to consider the big screen 3D: 3D-XL. This is a box the size of a DVD to be inserted between the Blu-ray 3D, the PS3 or the terminal and a digital 3D DLP projector «3D Ready». What makes it different from another? The presence of a 120 Hz scan mode is just about everything.

3D Ready to 3D

Fifteen devices Optoma are «3D Ready» (HD600X, EW536, WE531, DW318, HD67, EX542i, EW533ST, EX762, EX61OST, EW610ST, EX779, EX785, EW775), but unable, as shown, displaying
3D images. Hence the interest of this little interconnection box equipped with two HDMI 1.4 (manager also audio), HDMI output to connect to the projector and an RS232 port for remote control. The only small thing irritating is that the 3D mode selection will be via a small switch at the rear of the enclosure. Not easy if you plan to put in a rack. Another small detail that could anger the most demanding that the output resolution in 3D does not exceed the 720p. The case is yet able to handle the 1080p, but only in 2D. We shall be content.

Optoma clearly has scheduled a pair of 3D glasses active (ZD201) that weighs only 50 grams, which offers a range of 20 m and up to 80 hours battery life thanks to its battery.
Optoma also specified that it was designed to fit all faces and can even be worn over prescription glasses. The price of the extra pair was unfortunately not specified. A priori, this should run around 80 euros.

Compatible with other DLP projectors

Finally, note that other DLP projectors will of course be compatible with this camera 3D-XL Optoma and active glasses, provided they support the DLP Link.
Integrated with the new DLP chips from Texas Instruments, it eliminates the presence of an infrared emitter and 3D glasses to synchronize the projector with a specific signal inserted seamlessly between the two 3D video stream. The only downside of this technology is that the definition of the 3D image is limited to 720p.
