ScanSnap S1100, the scanner to take

The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1100 proposes to take with you to scan your documents. Compact and lightweight, it comes with a bonus of some handy features.

Your scanner on or off the premises? Seen, most high tech digital objects tend to become nomads. If so phones and GPS long ago, computer peripherals like printers and scanners are still struggling to follow this route for obvious technical reasons. However, like some of its competitors as VistaQuest, Fujitsu tries to turn the mobile scanning of documents. The Japanese company has recently ScanSnap S1100. Presentation.

Compact, lightweight and fast

To make a portable scanner product, it must first of all that it is compact and lightweight. Fujitsu Scan Snap S1100 should not be too bulky with a weight of 350 grams for a length of 27 cm or a little larger than the width of an A4 (21 cm): hard to beat! The model comes in a slender rectangular shape that can suggest a neon. It proposes to scan the documents (in color or black and white) in a maximum resolution of 600 dpi (600 x 600 pixels). Compatible with Mac and PC, will manage the A4 model in a speed of 8 sheets per minute in 300 dpi (or a page every 7.5 seconds). We will wait a little longer than 30 seconds for a page in 600dpi. A weak point: if the S1100 can scan photos, business cards and other plastic cards, it will not be the case of books ... a concession to make on behalf of the fineness of the model.

Software and functions

Fujitsu ScanSnap delivers the S1100 with a nice suite of software: ScanSnap Organizer will facilitate the organization of scanned documents (Windows only) while the program FineReader will recognize the characters optically. Practice, if you then want to edit documents on your computer. Finally the portable scanner is compatible with online applications like Google Docs and Evernote. A USB 2.0 full product.

Portable scanner price: $194.99

Fujitsu ScanSnap Scanner S1100 (34 mm x 273 mm x 47.5 mm 350 grams) has recently become available at suggested list price of $194.99. An attractive and compact model on which we only regret the absence of a carrying bag for delivery.
