Apple MacBook Pro 15" 2 GHz Core i7

Apple increased its MacBook Pro into high gear, MacBook Pros are more powerful and adopt, before anyone else, Thunderbolt technology from Intel.

The rumor grew, becoming ever more credible, not just an update imminent and logical MacBook Pro, but also and especially the integration of Thunderbolt, the new high-speed connectivity technology from Intel, in the new laptops professionals from Apple.

Thunderbolt, the O's future

All models - 13, 15 and 17 inches - integrate this technology I / O offering theoretical speeds of 10 Gbit / s (in both directions and with its current specifications), which is two times faster than the USB 3.0 and almost 21 times faster than USB 2.0.
Thunderbolt is multifunctional. In terms of physical appearance, it features a Mini DisplayPort and thus can serve many purposes. It is thus possible to make a video out to display very high resolutions or to connect to peripherals: a bay RAID, Fiber Channel or even hard drives are compatible when there will be. Of course, the major flaw of this port is that there is only one, but it is possible to connect up to six devices, some of which may also be powered by 10 watts that it displays.
Let those who have invested in screens or DisplayPort to HDMI adapters, DVI or VGA can rest assured their equipment will always work.
If Thunderbolt gives a sudden blow to the old premature dashing USB 3.0, what about the two USB 2.0 ports that Apple continues to offer in addition to FireWire 800 (12 times slower than the new Intel technology)? Asked about the lack of USB 3.0 on its new machines, the firm says it simply has no announcement to make at the moment on this point.

A configuration further strengthened

So Apple managed a coup by being the first to adopt Thunderbolt, but the rest of the configuration of its MacBook Pro is also significant. The new Intel processors, which are part, should show up twice as fast as those present in the previous generation, according to Apple. This is the first time that the manufacturer includes a quad-core processor in some of its laptops - only in models 15 and 17 inches.
All selected CPU integrate graphics chip Intel Graphics HD 3000 to 384 MB shared memory - there are 4 GB of RAM standard on all MacBook Pro. If, on the 13-inch models, the chip is responsible for displaying all the applications on the 15-inch entry-level, it is associated with the AMD Radeon HD 6490M (256 MB) and the second 15 inches and 17 inches at the AMD Radeon HD 6750M equipped with 1 GB of video memory. The portion of the Intel chip to the AMD chip is done automatically according to usage, to optimize performance and battery life.

Two extras

Finally, for most everyday uses, Apple has upgraded the integrated webcam. The camera is now classified as FaceTime and can shoot in HD 720p. Another small improvement: the SD card reader is now compatible with SDXC (2 TB of storage theoretical maximum. We note that there is still no CompactFlash reader, too bad for a professional machine. Only the 17 "avoids this stumbling block - as long as you buy an adapter to plug into the reader ExpressCard/34.

Price stability

The new MacBook Pro consists of two 13-inch, sold 1,149 and $ 1,449 (depending on the CPU and the size of their hard drive); two 15-inch to 1 749 and $ 2,149 (depending on processor their graphics card and the size of their hard drive) and a 17-inch, whose price flirts with $ 2 500. The rates are broadly unchanged, and all models are already available.
