The race for the most compact USB key could be won by a project initiated on the platform IndieGoGo as a digital paper. IntelliPaper is a project initiated by a company currently seeking funding on IndieGoGo funding platform. The project aims to provide a compact digital storage in the form of a paper (or rather carton) The USB key as proposed would be printed on paper, the storage being in the millimeter scale and partitioned between layers of paper. The advantage of this type of storage is mainly how the data are distributed.
Storage solution would therefore be directly included in a paper, and present a precut laser to detach it, then fold it to connect to a PC and read the stored information. Can serve as a storage unit small, it is especially in the distribution of information that the concept becomes very large, for example to integrate a USB key in an announcement, a letter to his lawyer or even embed videos in junk mail (the last option is certainly one that should have the most success with marketing firms). Two capacities are announced, one of the other 8MB and 32MB, nothing to really offer a storage solution for music or videos, but enough space for some pictures, text files, PDF platelets ...
The applications are endless, as outlined in the Project Manager, paper is still the most widely used medium in the world, adding a digital portion to the support only increases a little more capacity transmission of information. Currently, the project requires $ 300,000 to get to commercialization. As usual, each donation can benefit from various offers proportional to its importance, it will count for example $ 20 for a greeting card with integrated USB key.
