WHAT IS OUYA CONSOLE ?

The Ouya is a video game console that appears for the first time on 3 July 2012 on the Internet (especially on gaming sites). It was released during the month of March 2013; the price is to be around $99. Or about 79 €.
The main feature of this console is the fact that it only offers free games to play, that is to say that accessibility is free, although some content may be paid. In addition, it uses the Android operating system, which is an open source, allowing developers to easily access the platform. A development kit comes with it at no cost to acquire, or to publish a game pad with conventional analog sticks, and buttons also come with.
Among those responsible for this project, there is Julie Uhrman, former CEO of IGN section dedicated to digital distribution and Yves Béhar, famous designer Muffin Ghadiali, contributing to the creation of the Amazon Kindle and Ed Fries, responsible for the development of the original Xbox games.

Funding

Team Ouya project decided to use donations from users through a campaign on the crowd-funding site Kickstarter, as did the video game company Double Fine Productions. The project was given a month from July 9, 2012, to reach the sum of $950,000. After 24 hours, the total donations exceeded $ 2.5 million. At the end of the season on 9 August 2012, the project was able to raise the $8,596,474., which is a record among the projects related to video game Kickstarter. Finally, the participants in the financial year that have contributed enough will receive the console by March 28, 2013, a few weeks before its release at retailers in June 2013. On May 9, 2013 Boxer8 announced it has raised an additional 15 million dollars injected by various investors (Mayfield Fund, NVidia, Shasta Ventures, Occam Partners, Kleiner Perkins ...), but its release date shifted by three weeks, to 25 June 2013.

Services

Upon its release, the console will be officially compatible with the On Line service if it still exists. In partnership with more than 50 publishers, On Line offers a catalog of over 200 games available on demand: they are installed on the servers of the service, and the video stream is sent to the user. No installation is required, therefore, only an efficient Internet connection is required. Demos of 30 minute durations will be available for most games, and once purchased, the player can continue to a part of a game on any platform on which he installed On Line (PC, Mac, tablet, phone).
In addition, the console should not be confined to the video game industry: first partnership was signed with VEVO, a platform for entertainment and music videos, as well as radio platforms like iHeartRadio, TuneIn and Twitch TV. Finally, a partnership between XBMC and Ouya has just been announced and support Plex confirms that the machine could be used as a media center.
