Samsung Reveals Its Galaxy NotePRO Products And TabPRO, ATIV Book 9 And ATIV One7 At CES 2014

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus lands at the office, we do our first video tour for the year [VIDEO]

It feels like it was yesterday that we saw the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus official announcement and we are already welcoming it to our office. Oh wait – the announcement really was yesterday, which makes us especially glad to introduce this one to you.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus has some pretty big shoes to fill as its predecessor is one of the most successful products that the Koreans released in 2011. You don’t need to look much further than our own specs page to see that the original Galaxy Ace has been enjoying tremendous interest, so the Ace Plus needs to be quite an upgrade.

Of course, we won’t be sure about that until the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is finalized and it hits the shelves, but things aren’t looking too shabby at present. A faster ARMv7 CPU and a bit of extra RAM are all that it takes to enjoy the full productive potential of Android.

Naturally, there might be some games that won’t feel perfectly at home on the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus and most of them won’t look particularly good on the HVGA LCD anyway, but that’s not what this handset is all about. The Ace Plus is about maximizing the functionality, while keeping the price to a minimum.

Still, great functionality isn’t good for much without at least decent performance, so let’s see how the Galaxy Ace Plus does in that aspect.

Naturally, you shouldn’t expect miracles at these stages as what we have here is nothing but an early prototype, which will see plenty of improvement before it hits the shelves. Yet, we are pretty pleased with how stable the Galaxy Ace Plus already feels and we are left feeling optimistic about its prospects.

If Samsung gets the pricing right this one might turn out be as big a hit as its predecessor.

A press image of the AT&T bound Samsung Galaxy Note emerges

It has been a good three months since the first time we discussed a U.S. bound Samsung Galaxy Note. Finally, the first press photo of the AT&T branded phoneblet has broken its cover, along with some specs.

As you can see in the picture above, the U.S. version of the Samsung Galaxy Note will sport the same four-button configuration as its local siblings. LTE and NFC connectivity are rumored to be on board as well.

There is no information yet on the CPU and chipset of the handset. We won't be surprised if Samsung passes on the beastly Exynos chipset, found in the Galaxy Note which we already know, and opts for a Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 one instead. After all, the aforementioned is currently featured in the entire LTE lineup for AT&T.

The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note is expected to launch in the first half of 2012. An announcement at CES next week is likely, so stay tuned.

Korea-bound Samsung Galaxy M Style M340S unveiled

Samsung are continuing their strong push at the start of 2012 with a new announcement. The company just introduced the mid-range Samsung Galaxy M Style M340S smartphone. The Android handset is going to debut in Korea, but there's no saying if availability elsewhere will follow.

Design-wise, the Samsung Galaxy M Style is quite reminiscent of its I9103 Galaxy R sibling, but its internals are quite different. The dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU has been replaced by a 1 GHz single-core Cortex-A8 unit and there's DMB-T support this time.

The Samsung Galaxy M comes with a really modest 3 megapixel camera, but it uses a 4" Super AMOLED screen, instead of the 4.2" Super-LCD unit, found on the I9103. The Galaxy M runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has the usual TouchWiz customizations on top of that.

Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity and 4GB of internal memory are the only other specs of the Samsung Galaxy M that have been confirmed so far.

We do know though that the smartphone will be available in Platinum Silver, Blue Black and Lavender Pink and will cost about $500.

Samsung drops plans to release Value Pack for Galaxy S

Galaxy S users waiting for the Value Pack from Samsung are in for a disappointment. A company spokesperson has just confirmed that Samsung has dropped the plans to release the update.

As you may know, Samsung initially declined upgrading the popular Galaxy S smartphone to ICS last year, stating the lack of space on the phone as the reason. Later on they said that they will look into it, only to come back a while later and say that it's not going to happen after all. They did, however, promise a "Value Pack", which was supposed to add some useful features to the Galaxy S, found in ICS.

But now, even that's not going to happen. Once again, Samsung claims that the hardware is not capable of running the new software while staying clear of making any more promises that they cannot keep. So it seems that the Galaxy S users are going to be stuck on Gingerbread for the rest of their lives, assuming they stick to the official channel.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus with 1GHz CPU unveiled

Samsung has just announced the successor of its highly popular Galaxy Ace Android smartphone. The successor of the mid-range device is dubbed Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus and improves several key aspects of its hardware.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus comes with a faster, 1GHz, CPU, 3GB storage and more RAM than its predecessor - 512MB. The Ace Plus also sports a marginally larger HVGA LCD - it measures 3.65" in diagonal compared to the 3.5" of the original Galaxy Ace. The exterior of the smartphone also got redesigned and it's now made of glossy rather than matte plastic.

The rest of the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus hardware is pretty much on par with the firs Galaxy Ace. You get a 5 megapixe autofocus camera with LED flash, dual-band 3G with 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and a standard microUSB port.

The internal storage is expandable through the microSD card slot, while the Bluetooth version is 3.0.

Unfortunately, there's no information about the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus pricing and availability at this stage.

Two official ICS ROMs from Samsung leak for the Galaxy S II

Samsung may not update the Galaxy S to Ice Cream Sandwich, but they've been hard at work on mixing the new Android 4.0 with their TouchWiz UI for the i9100 Galaxy S II.

A proof for this are two official Samsung ROMs that have leaked for the company's Droid flagship. The two versions in question are I9100XXKP4/OXAKP4 and I9100XXKP8 / OXAKP8 based on Android 4.0.1 and Android 4.0.3, respectively.

SamMobile.com is reporting that while both are early alpha versions of the final update supposed to hit all Galaxy S II devices early this year, the more stable one is the latter. Here are some screenshots of how the Ice Cream Sandwich update looks on the S II.
