PHILIPS 55PFL6008

This LCD TV 55-inch diagonal integrates an IPS panel with good image quality but limited high contrast ratio.

This 55-inch Philips displays a beautiful image but lacks contrast, This TV size is sold at a reasonable price and provides a majority in terms of image quality. Its only real flaw: too low contrast.

PHILIPS 55PFL6008
Well equipped and not too expensive, Philips 6000 Series combines attractive and enjoyable to watch TV. This model 55PFL6008 is a good example. The device has integrated WiFi, a portal to services connected, and mainly sacrifices that its 3D technology, opting for liabilities. We tested.

Design side, the 55PFL6008 boasts a "borderless" frame, found on some latest generation of televisions. A design that comes from LG, and it is no coincidence, since this TV uses an IPS panel produced by the Korean manufacturer. Very fine and pleasant to look at, This television can swivel from right to left, which is increasingly rare on the market, yet so practical.

The true colors

As usual, only the setting mode "Cinema/movie" TV offers a true picture (the other modes do not have the same purpose). With this type of configuration, 55 inch displays this means very satisfactory colors (DeltaE 1.63, test on 48 colors with Datacolor Spyder4Elite probe). Our second probe Konica Minolta also shows a good command of shades of gray (gamma 2.14 and average temperature of 6591 ° K). The screen covers 90% of the sRGB color space (Adobe RGB 69%), which is well no more.

Lack of depth of black

The screen still suffers from several flaws. starting with its anemic contrast ratio, typical of its IPS display technology: 1343:1 in Standard (brightness 224 cd / m²) mode and 860:1 in Cinema mode (brightness 140 cd / m²). Backlight, meanwhile, is not very homogeneous, with light leaks on the two lower left corners of the slab. In contrast, screen we tested did not suffer from the problem of "clouding" (gray spots on a solid black), e is a good point. One last detail: our vision angle measurement gave a bad result,

which is surprising for an IPS panel. Perhaps this is due to the presence of polarizing filter for passive 3D (3D very good indeed, despite the fact that it halved the resolution of the image).

Excellent remote

Philips remote control includes a full keyboard and classic touches, but gyroscopic pointer (gesture control). This is one of the best on the market, in our view. It allows easy control of the TV menu, especially in connected services. However, we would have preferred a complete overhaul of the configuration menus of the TV, which are still sluggish and not very aesthetic. Philips has improved in this area, but is still not up to LG or Samsung.

This 55-inch is a good deal for those looking for a large display Enjoying true colors without breaking the bank. That said, low contrast ratio will push many purists moviegoers.

New DELL P2714T

This Dell monitor is equipped with a capacitive touch slab size, and His design is entirely adapted for touch use. This large touchscreen Dell monitor is very serious ... even a little too Equipped with an LCD panel of good quality, This monitor displays a beautiful image and wide viewing angles. But it is handicapped by its reactivity.

Faced with 27 inch touch monitor IIYAMA Prolite T2735MSC-B1 (which we recently tested) the P2714T from Dell tries to impose through a slab technology IPS upscale and Full HD. The tactile system is however identical: The capacitance at the contact points 10. It is no better currently. so, Dell or Iiyama?

Difficult to compare these two monitors! Starting with their finishing, very similar quality. Small advantage to Dell, who opts for a little more noble materials (metal base) and a sleeker design. The setup menu and control buttons are, also, much more ergonomic

Image quality appointments

The new slab AMVA + Monitor Iiyama T2735MSC was very pleasantly surprised. At Dell, we stick to an IPS panel which keeps the same default: the depth of black is significantly lower (contrast ratio of 1122:1 maximum). However, the backlight remains excellent quality: it is homogeneous and does not tire the eyes sensitive (no power by PWM pulsation, which could cause some micro-flickering). Viewing angles of the Dell model are much higher than those of its competitor, which is always useful when several people looking at data on the screen. The quality of color reproduction is good (DeltaE by 2.6) and shades of gray are faithful, but comparable to the touchscreen IIYAMA Prolite T2735MSC-B1. The main handicap by this screen, is the response time their liquid crystal. It is not only very slow (19 ms according to our tests) but it is mostly marred by sticking effect inverted extremely pronounced. The color contrails behind moving objects is not natural (inverse to what it should be) which disqualifies the screen for video games, and even for some demanding moviegoers. Note that this inverse remanence is caused by overdrive (overvoltage applied to crystals) much too strong, and above can not be disabled!

Ergonomics and Touch control are unfailing

In practice, Dell monitor that offers comfort in use without failure. The touch overlay slab is reactive and fast, and is very useful with really appropriate software interfaces. Note that the screen also has two USB 3.0 ports easily accessible on the left side of the frame.

Our Opinion

Difficult to actually prefer this Dell monitor P2714T from its competitor Iiyama T2735MSC. Both models are equivalent. If you want to maximize your viewing angles without playing, Dell is a good choice. For those who prefer to have deep blacks and a time of a little more seasoned reply Iiyama remains a serious alternative. Both screens have the same price on the market.

Smartphones large format Estimated sales of 60 million units 2013
The CES was the opportunity to discover what we reserved the smartphone manufacturers and the general orientation is towards a reconciliation with those dimensions of mobile tablets. The Galaxy Note has been a pioneer in the field, offering a hybrid format with a horse between your tablet and smartphone, and most manufacturers now seem to bet big on extra large formats.

Finished the race for the smallest device, today the market is moving towards smartphones to screen more than 5 inches diagonally, While large platforms, but ultra-fine. According to research firm iSuppli, smartphones offer a screen between 5 and 7 inches should represent 60.4 million in sales this year, or 136% more than the previous year. A possible increase in the democratization of LTPS LCD screens and more manufacturers betting on this type of formats.

By 2016, iSuppli estimated that the figure could rise to 146 million units: "The choice to offer a larger screen smartphones reflects the will of an effort from the device manufacturers and suppliers of screens to differentiate their products." Outside Smasung and its Galaxy Note, Chinese manufacturers like ZTE and Huawei have quickly understood the importance of imposing this type of format that is somehow an alternative to purchasing a smartphone and a tablet. In the future, the screens of smartphones should be generalized in the same way that the instructors did, offering 5-inch format as a standard in the field. But increasing the display size will not grow indefinitely either, mobility to take precedence over the rest of the features. Many agree that these new smartphones XL are already too big to move into the pockets come in handy in their primary function: telephone communication. However, some manufacturers are already working on smartphones format 7 inch, remains to be seen what will be another key factor in these smartphones undergoing direct impact of this extension display: autonomy.

Asus PC detachable screen

PC running Windows 8, tablet under Android

In fact, Asus has managed a pretty amazing feat by installing the foot / station home all-in-one chipset all latest PC (Intel processor, up to 8GB of memory, Nvidia GT 730m and 2TB hard drive). Vizio already a tablet under Tegra 4

In addition to his large format tablet running under Windows 8, Vizio has taken advantage of CES to introduce its first mobile solution working with a combination of platform and Nvidia Tegra 4 Android Jelly Bean.

Vizio tablet Tegra 4
This is not one, but two tablets Tegra architecture under that Vizio account soon offer the public. The two tablets should be oriented towards two distinct segments, one showing a 10-inch screen and the other remaining modestly to 7 inches. The 10 inch model should be towards the high end offering architecture Nvidia Tegra 4, heralded as the most powerful solution on the market today. Its 10-inch screen size will propose a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels, be associated with 32 GB of storage memory, an NFC chip and two cameras 5MP and 1.3MP.

New Garmin GPS at CES 2013

Three new ranges of PNDs will be presented at CES in Las Vegas. There is something new from Garmin. The manufacturer presents three new lines of GPS at CES in Las Vegas. These series Essential, Advanced and Prestige.

Garmin GPS CES 2013
Prestige model really promising, This is the Nüvi 3597LMT, the Prestige range, which seems the most interesting. If you do not yet know much about this model, should set the bar very high in terms of technical and, especially, design, the image of Nüvi 3590LMT (GPS the current range Premium). This is what the photos suggest this model with a screen of 5 inches (12.7 cm diagonal), that should be fine and enjoy a high quality of design. We expect that this high-end model will take the best of the brand: a map of Europe (45 countries) with free updates for life, Bluetooth functions to provide hands free, information technology traffic and voice recognition.

Essential and Advance: most of the sales, Most of the sales should still be performed on the product lines Essential and Advanced. The first will include the Nüvi 42 and 52 devices with screens 4.3 (10.9 cm) and 5 inches (12.7 cm), able to guide you throughout Europe (45 countries). The Nüvi 2497 (Screen 10.9 inches diagonal), 2597 (screen 12.7-inch diagonal) and 279 are in turn representatives of the Advanced range. Again, the upmarket resulting in screens bigger and bigger, even the gigantic Nüvi 279 which has a 7-inch screen, approximately 18 inches diagonally. Each of these references will benefit, As always with Garmin, declinations with or without traffic information, but also, with or without providing updated mapping. It will take a little longer to find out for other specifications, prices, but also the availability of these devices.

Windows Phone 8 HTC would be dropped a model to big screen

HTC 8S Windows Phone 8
The manufacturer HTC has waived launch a smartphone Windows Phone 8 with a display 5 inch or more, it can not pass a 1080p resolution. HTC was the first to offer Android smartphones with 5 inch screen and 1080p resolution, DNA via the HTC Droid and HTC cousin J Butterfly, but the same movement should not be repeated on the side of Windows Phone 8. Bloomberg says the manufacturer has canceled a project to Windows Phone 8 Smartphone large screen (5 inch or more), saying it could not compete with the resolution in Android products. The mobile platform Microsoft supports resolutions up to 720p.

One may wonder if this is the only reason, terminals as the Galaxy Note II combining display 5.5 inch and resolution 720p without it being detrimental to the quality or usability of the device. It is true that it is quadcore when it has not yet seen smartphones Windows Phone 8 beyond the dual core.

It is possible that HTC has found that the cause was lost before then that should be revealed early next year in several Android smartphones taking up a configuration 5 inch/ 1080p from several manufacturers. Unless the informal approach of a Nokia smartphone Juggernaut good size there is for something.

Reviews LG IPS277L-BN

This monitor LG IPS277L-BN adopts a new design without apparent edge. It also features an LCD panel IPS technology with good viewing angles.

General Review On LG IPS277L-BN

An 27-inch LG elegant and efficient, except for the game, LCD panel with a high-end 27-inch monitor that displays a design called borderless and an image well calibrated at the factory. The new screen LG IPS277L-BN  offers a large 27-inch diagonal and a very particular design: the edges of the LCD panel are almost invisible. The aesthetics of the monitor improves without increasing its price. It remains below $ 380.09, a great rate for a large-format monitor IPS (In-plane Switching). A Best deal?

Reviews LG IPS277L-BN
 LG IPS277L-BN

More Details REVIEW About  LG IPS277L-BN

At first glance, the box of this monitor shows a very nice design, but the materials are basic (from 100% plastic!). The fit and finish of the whole, however, remain appropriate. We just regret the lack of height adjustment, a cool detail that many users. Note that LG has not succumbed to the temptation of the shiny coating: the Full HD (1920 by 1080 pixels) on the screen is matte, and therefore very sensitive to glare.

Images good viewing angles

Thanks to its LCD panel technology with IPS (In-plane Switching), this monitor offers wide viewing angles and a realistic color image without special setting. The image reproduction is faithful (DeltaE average of 1.9), and shades of gray are properly made. However, it is possible to further improve the image rendering calibrating the screen, especially to stabilize the white and shades of gray to 6500 ° K (red settings to 41, green 48 and blue 51). We regret, however, that the screen completely off the backlight when displaying a black image (not a mechanism to disable).

Lack of homogeneity and reactivity

The contrast ratio of this monitor is a bit feeble (890:1), as its maximum brightness (206 cd only / m²). The problem is that the backlight is not homogeneous. He suffers from "leakage" of light in the two lower corners of the LCD panel. It will decrease the backlight for a more suitable homogeneity and increase the contrast ratio through the slab (average brightness of 136 cd / m², contrast ratio 990:1 improved).

Second problem: the overdrive of the screen is supposed to increase the responsiveness of its liquid crystal display rapid movements more clearly. Enabled by default, this causes a heavy overdrive ghosting reversed (reverse ghosting) that causes very visible trails behind objects displayed. Therefore it off. The screen shot is very poorly suited to video games fast.

An ergonomic to review

The menu of this monitor LG IPS277L-BN  full of options. One possibility is to set the channels of secondary colors (yellow, magenta and cyan), or activate a dynamic energy saving efficient and discreet. Touch buttons controls are, however, very reactive and access in a dark room can become very difficult. Last detail missing: the absence of built-in speakers, always handy for troubleshooting when multiple sources are connected to the two HDMI ports of the screen.

Conclusion Of REVIEW About The LG IPS277L-BN

This monitor is reserved for office activities require good image quality. LG IPS277L-BN  design and price allow it to pick up a fourth star. It regrets that his ability to play is constrained by its overdrive set incorrectly.

Reviews HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF

The HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF is a 14-inch ultrabook to touch in Windows 8. Enduring, this laptop nomad a bit heavy and thick is finished. Too bad that the display quality is not quite up to par. At $ 849, it is a little too expensive.

General Review On HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF

The new HP laptop touch screen deserves better, The HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF is a touchscreen ultrabook, Windows 8. It is well finished and durable, but the quality of the display screen 14 inches disappoints a little. The HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF is a new Windows 8 ultrabooks. Its something more is its touch screen of 14 inches. But despite the high price, it does not seem to offer the revolutionary design or the components. The price is justified? Our opinion, to support tests.

More Details REVIEW About  HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF

Reviews HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF
The HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF includes the widening circle of laptops with touch screen. This ultrabook brand HP 14-inch (35.56 cm) is therefore controls the keyboard or fingertips to draw, play a little or scroll through a Web page. Side look, the gear is a mixture of HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4 and HP Envy SpectreXT 13. However, it is much heavier (2 kg) and thicker (2.5 cm) than its bigger brothers. We found a black brushed aluminum cover almost matte, metal inner imitation brushed steel. The underside of the machine consists of a plastic skin to the touch fishing.

The Component Set is powerful enough to satisfy all your demands. But for complex 3D games, do not rely on this HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF. However, good management of the power consumption of the device gives an endurance of 4 hours and 10 minutes of video playback. For sound, HP relies on speakers coupled with Beats audio enhancement program. If the result is suitable better focus on good headphones. Finally, the connectivity, there are two USB ports and three USB 2, a network socket and two video outputs (VGA and HDMI). Wi-Fi n and Bluetooth 4.0 are obviously part for wireless exchanges.

Manipulate Windows 8 fingertips on the screen 14 inches is quite pleasant. The touch screen is responsive and bright precise. However, technically, HP has accustomed us to improve on the display. The definition of the slab is a bit tight for a machine at this price: only 1366 pixels by 768 pixels. In addition, the brightness of the screen is really feeble (146 cd/m2), as the contrast ratio (777:1).

Component side, there is a low-power Intel dual heart, supported by 4GB of memory, capable of running all the usual programs. In addition, through the alliance of 32GB of SSD and HDD 500 GB, the Envy gaining velocity in copying data or the Windows startup, while ofrant good storage capacity. If the machine is energy efficient, it heats up a lot at full speed: we found to 57.2 ° C in the box.

Conclusion Of REVIEW About The  HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF

Like many, ultrabooks midrange touchscreen under Windows 8, the HP ENVY TOUCHSMART 4-1180SF is too expensive for the services offered. At almost $ 850, a better screen, a backlit keyboard and "any USB 3.0" is a minimum! Its autonomy is good, but its size and weight does not make him the perfect mobile. To choose, we would spend $ 50 extra to purchase the Sony Vaio ultrabook touch SVT1312A4E / S, smaller and more enduring.
