Acer newTouch S200

Big engine, little price for this smartphone Acer Large touch screen and processor survitaminé are on the menu for this phone under Windows Mobile 6.5.

Acer has just introduced new line of Touch smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.5, a series of four aircraft, the most powerful, the newTouch S200 (also known NeoTouch other markets whose code name was far F1).

It is one of the first mobile to carry a 1 GHz processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon, with TG01 Toshiba and HTC HD2. This processor not only has the clock highest ever achieved in a mobile, it also includes a 3D graphics engine, opening the way for user interfaces and programs, including games, more attractive. The screen, a resistive model, which requires the user to press rather than raise his finger, shows a diagonal of 9.65 inches format WVGA (800x480 pixels).

Although a stylus is hidden in the hull of newTouch, it is envisaged to drive the unit all the fingers except on rare occasions, such as menus zone settings. Nothing too serious since, by definition, these settings are not intended to be trimmed daily.

The newTouch addresses both the public and professionals. For the former, developments have been completed to add to Windows Mobile 6.5 a graphical overlay relatively small (only nine icons and not honeycomb) which figures prominently Facebook and MSN Messenger. Other icons provide access to Blogger, Flickr and YouTube. This overlay covers and the keyboard on the phone, calendar, social networks, contacts and office.

For the pros, it's just Windows Mobile that provides its traditional desktop applications and synchronization with the exception of Acer Sync, a synchronization solution that the group would launch in Taiwan within two weeks. It will sync contacts and calendar automatically, as soon as the device connects to a WiFi hotspot Other synchronization solutions, including Microsoft MyPhone but also direct connection the PC or through Google are possible.

  1. How is the on-screen keyboard? I'm curious if its relatively easy to use in portrait and also in landscape mode. I'm about to buy one but that is really the only thing holding me back since I can't test on out before buying. I had a tilt w/a resistive screen and i never used on screen keyboard. I have a 3GS and the keyboard is good enough. I really would like to know just how bad using only an on-screen keyboard on a resistive screen of this size is. Thanks.
