Briefly: Apple wants to shrink the iPad

Apple preparing new versions of its iPad, most powerful and which would emerge in the first quarter of 2011. One would be smaller, to deal with competing products that are multiplying.

With over three million tablets sold, the iPad is undoubtedly a success. But competition is not standing still and several companies have begun to emerge from such products. Most have sizes smaller than the iPad and this detail has apparently not escaped it to Apple.

According to DigiTimes web magazine, new versions of the iPad would be in preparation for release in early 2011. A more powerful processor, the Cortex A9, licensed ARM, the A8, which would replace the current models and team memory would be increased from 256 to 512 MB

While the iPad has a screen diagonal of 9.7 inches (24.6 centimeters), Apple would announce a compact version with the 7-inch (17.8 centimeters) would make the device more easily transportable. The definition, however, remains unchanged at 1024 x 768 pixels, avoiding compatibility problems.

Digitimes also provides for the release of Apple TV, diskless, "at the interface similar to that of the iPhone" and based on a Fusion processor family, AMD.
