Mark Hurd left the head of the U.S. company, for falsifying expense reports to conceal a relationship with a collaborator outside of HP.
At the head of HP for five years, Mark Hurd has abruptly resigned his post Friday, August 6, 2010. The CEO of the company was the subject of an internal investigation following a sexual harassment complaint filed by a former collaborator outside of HP. If this embarrassing affair was settled amicably between the owner and the complainant, the company has not been healed.
In a statement, she talks about the findings of the investigation. Mark Hurd would not have violated the internal rules on sexual harassment. However, he did not observe the course of business from HP, including by maintaining a "close personal relationship" with a sub-contractor of the group, unbeknownst to the board.
28 million dollars in compensation
"Mark has demonstrated a profound lack of discernment that has seriously damaged its credibility and was highly prejudicial to his ability to lead HP, and he agreed," said Mike Holston, director of corporate legal department, cited Reuters. The boss would thus falsified expense reports to conceal their relationship.
Mark Hurd will not leave empty-handed. It should indeed reach some 28 million dollars in compensation for loyal service. It must be said that it was he whom we attribute the recovery of HP, now in its mandate the number one computer. Cathie Lesjack, current group finance director, became interim CEO.
