Test Mercedes R 500 4MATIC restyled: German incognito

Shunned in France, the Mercedes R-Class continues his career without complex and is getting even a little beauty. Because the ugly duckling no defects and that suits very well the American public, for example. To understand this craze, cross the Atlantic for a test dip.

Launched five years ago, the Mercedes R-Class jostled codes to create a new segment to the market premium. By offering a MPV refined, the Stuttgart manufacturer imposed with panache and a luxurious alternative to the provocative and family SUV. A bit ahead of its time, Mercedes and marketed its amazing crossover, halfway between a minivan and a sports estate. But the lines shifted from the ''R'' scalded have many potential buyers, who have preferred the attractive ATVs.

However, the R-Class is no lack of qualifications and restyling, which is perfect, is expected to focus on anything but incongruous lines.
In the U.S., the barrier of style has never been crippling and the R-Class has found an audience, captivated by its elegance and livability gargantuan.

With its facelift, the R-Class is aligned with the rest of the range Mercedes. The headlamp units are changing at the front and rear bumpers are slightly redesigned and the grille is subtly altered. No revolution, but a series of small changes that allow the crossover to display more brand identity to the star.
Side dimensions, the German is local color in the middle of traffic flow in which we find in and around New York. However, with a length of 5.15 meters and a width of 2.18 meters, the long version of our test, its size reflects more on European roads.
