Mobile: Android strong growth in the U.S

Phones running the Google OS have made a quantum leap in recent months, surpassing the sales of the iPhone, according to research firm Nielsen.

Research firm Nielsen has released a study on the use of informative smartphones in the United States. It appears that the first part of ordiphones progressing overseas, with 25% of mobile subscribers now equipped in the second quarter of 2010, against 23% the previous quarter.

More interestingly, the study shows the tremendous growth of Android, especially among recent purchasers of smartphones. In six months, the market share of Google OS has exploded in the new phone owners: it represented 2% of sales at the end of 2009 is now credited with 27% of sales in second quarter 2010!

In this game, Android has even surpassed the iPhone, which recorded 23% sales of mobile in the same quarter. Blackberry OS, while still leading the race ahead, seems less and less appeal to the new owners of smartphones, with only 33% of shares marchécontre 45% a year ago. The study provided Blackberry OS is the mobile operating system most used (35% of the market), just before the iOS, which climbs gently (28%). Android (13%) should quickly surpass Windows Mobile, in full meltdown (-12% in one year).

Android stronger than the iPhone? Features. While the supply of Android phones has exploded in recent months, Apple fans may have preferred to await the arrival of the iPhone 4, available only since the end of June, and this possibility was obviously not been considered in this study.

Finally, another fun statistic calculated by Nielsen: fidelity to its mobile OS. We learn that the iPhone users are 89% want to continue with Apple for their next phone. Only 6% would switcher for Android. In contrast, Android users are less loyal: 71% indicate if want to keep the OS from Google, they are nonetheless 21% prefer the Apple brand on their next purchase. Again, the RIM has to worry: only 42% of respondents want to have as the next Blackberry phone, preferring to migrate to other devices in iOS (29%) Android (21%).
