SKYACTIV: Mazda technology to consume less

SKYACTIV is the generic term that covers all the new generation innovative technologies developed by Mazda. The desire is to offer vehicles that combine driving pleasure and exceptional performance on environmental and security. To do this, Mazda has implemented an ambitious strategy which will be fully deployed by 2015.But next year, the first effects will be visible.

So we'll see some:

SKYACTIV-G, a new generation of direct injection engine fuel-efficient offering the compression ratio the highest in the world of all petrol engines (14.0 / 1) without the slightest defect in combustion (knocking )

SKYACTIV-D, a new generation clean diesel engine that meets global emission regulations without the need of costly post-treatment of NOx - selective catalytic reduction type urea (SCR) or NOx trap in poor settings (LSA ) - thanks to its compression ratio of 14.0 / 1, the lowest of all diesel engines in the world

SKYACTIV-Drive, a new generation of high performance automatic transmission that guarantees a highly efficient torque transfer, which combines all the advantages of conventional automatic transmissions, continuously variable transmissions and dual clutch transmissions
SKYACTIV-MT, a new generation of manual transmission offering compact and lightweight gear shifts smooth and precise like that of a sports car, and optimized for a vehicle with front engine and front wheels drive

The cash SKYACTIV, a new generation of highly rigid body lean offering exceptional resistance to shocks and extreme strength for even greater driving pleasure
The chassis SKYACTIV, a new generation of lightweight high-performance chassis that provides precise handling combined with excellent ride comfort for an incomparable driving pleasure.

In the longer term, the strategy provides the complete optimization of the core technologies of Mazda and the gradual introduction of various electrical devices - like the braking system with energy recovery - and a hybrid system. All technologies developed under this strategy are grouped under the label SKYACTIV.
