Paris, September 22, 2010 - Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp.. (DS SolidWorks) presents SolidWorks ® 2011, which offers many new features to accelerate product design, enhance cooperation and deepen the involvement of designers in manufacturing.

The new product family SolidWorks 2011 includes hundreds of improvements. This responds to requests from customers who routinely use SolidWorks to design new products, validate their performances, connect with partners, manage the design data and reduce the impact of a product on the environment.

• New Skin features of drawings in SolidWorks eliminates the time and effort required for manual quotations. Users can align, place in a staggered or automatically center odds with one click, with no overlap. A few clicks to get drawings more readable and more professional than ever.

• New 2D simplifications facilitate analysis of the parts. Users select a competing plan then apply loads and restraints to perform the static analysis, nonlinear, pressure and heat. SolidWorks Simulation instantly calculates and displays the results on the complete 3D model.

• A new module for cooling electronic components lets users set up and run quickly and easily thermal simulations to verify that the heat will not melt the electronic components of a product. A new air conditioning module provides the same functions for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Libraries enriched for parts now include fans, materials, components, resistors and two packages of integrated circuits. New analysis variables include the local air quality, ambient temperature and ohmic heating.

• A new menu bar added to the software data management SolidWorks Enterprise PDM can access more quickly to key concepts. The menu bar integrates directly into Windows Explorer, it combines the simplicity of Windows to the benefits of enterprise data strategy, to enhance collaboration, control and reuse of design information most useful.

All products in SolidWorks 2011 improves the speed and reliability through more efficient use of memory for handling complex designs or extended work sessions.

Communication and cooperation further

When all parties involved define from the outset, the aim and direction of a design, the procedure leading to the finished product is all the easier. Therefore DS SolidWorks strives to constantly improve the powerful collaboration features and viewing of SolidWorks.

• For example, SolidWorks 2011 offers a new feature that makes it easier to create photorealistic renderings of high quality in PhotoView 360. This function is now integrated in the SolidWorks CAD software to provide a unique and consistent design and rendering.

• To ensure in-depth experience, SolidWorks users can leverage the new features of virtual tour to showcase their designs to their customers. Users can easily browse their designs with their mouse or a console screen - no predefined path is required.

• Customers of SolidWorks can also strengthen their collaboration with their partners by sending them detailed designs - but not too much. The new tool Defeature facilitates the elimination of unnecessary detail or sensitive elements of intellectual property before sharing files.

• To improve communication across the design team, technical communication software, 3DVIA Composer ™, provides a facility to «storyboard» interactive and dynamic which helps clients to provide processing instructions by means ofinteractive images. Users can create a detailed commentary and attach the file for the recipient, for example, a manufacturing department colleague, prospect considering a contract or a customer who is already using the product. They can use the drag and drop to create interactive procedures clear and effective. Magnetic lines are another innovative feature that allows a few clicks to increase productivity through rational organization of content.

The involvement of the manufacturing department

Active communication between services is necessary to ensure that the manufactured product will exactly match the design while minimizing delays, rejects and rework.

For example:

• SolidWorks 2011 includes powerful new features that automate the placement and documentation of the welds. Users select and visualize the paths of welds using welding wizard, and then specify the type of solder and they prepare the bonds using the enhanced features of leaves and grooves. SolidWorks automatically compiles data on the number of welds, their length and type in new welding tables; it allows obtaining detailed reports that will be useful for analysis of costs and bids. Users can implement new games visible solder connections accessory-accessory, piping, tubing and accessories-piping to ensure the effectiveness of the welds.

• Designers can now detect the early stages of the procedure errors with new sheet metal tables for calculating the bending regions, enabling them to quickly calculate the developed length of the parts.

• The new integration of SolidWorks Design Checker in SolidWorks Enterprise PDM can streamline the transfer of manufacturing to the service concepts.

• It is now easy to evaluate the impact of manufacturing decisions on the carbon footprint of a product with a wide range of areas of manufacturing and use (which now includes Australia and America South) in the SolidWorks Sustainability. The software also offers new support for custom materials.

• The creation of sections of pipe, tube and pipe (especially for the supports and the brackets) is easier with the new routing capabilities. Users can now draw an existing geometry, for example a steel beam or a wall segment to determine the trajectory routing. SolidWorks combines the outside diameter (not the centerline) of the pipe / tube / cable / conduit for this geometry.
