Topaz: the concurrent iPad by HP a little more precise
HP Topaz, the Tablet WebOS should be formalized soon. Finally a real competitor for the iPad?

We had announced January 19, 2011, HP sharpens its weapons against Apple iPad-cons and precise attack. The technical details of one of two tablets bearing the sweet name of Topaz (a beautiful stone) were revealed on January 25 on the U.S. site Engadget.

A rumor that says

If the technical document dated last fall and that these data are inevitably to be taken lightly, however, it reinforces previous rumors. The touch pad is rotating under the WebOS system (main reason for the acquisition of Palm by HP) that are found in mobile phones and Pixi Pre Plus Plus Palm. It is 24.5 cm diagonal (9.7 inches), has a touch screen displaying a resolution XGA (1024 x 768 pixels) with a glass Gorilla Glass. The heart of the tablet is powered by a Qualcomm MS8660 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz which integrates next-generation graphics solution (Adreno 220). The brand, backed by 512 MB of DDR2 memory (not expandable) and a storage capacity ranging from 16 to 64 GB of flash memory.

Connectivity and equipment

Regarding connectivity, it has the right to Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, Wi-Fi (b / g / n) on two channels and a version is provided with a port for SIM chips to take advantage of the 3G/3G + connectivity. There are also accessories that are traditional microphone, ambient light sensor, the camera, the accelerometer and gyroscope, and a battery designed for "eight hours of normal use."

The more technical and software

HP knows the success of a product does not only the product itself but also the ecosystem around it. We think including accessories, like support for battery charging by induction Touchstone should be part of, or offerings of digital content - a priori a partnership with the provider of digital books Blio is planned for the United States. It also discusses the shift from technology license and Beats Audio sound (found in the headphones Monster Cable Beats by Dre Beats Solo but also in HP notebooks, like the Envy 14 that we tested) at within the tablet.

Finally, it will be the park of applications available and the price that will decide much of the success of this tablet, two factors which are, at present, the two real unknowns. The veil should dissipate since 9 February, according to Engadget, it would be the date HP formalize the product.
