Polaroid, a mini-printer without ink signed Lady Gaga
Polaroid and Lady Gaga launch a mini-printer without ink and autonomous ability to print photos anywhere.
A wind of change blowing through the Polaroid brand has offered the services of a new artistic director occasionally in the person of Lady Gaga. The singer was in fact designed the new range Grey Label constructor. Furthermore glasses camera (GL20) and a camera flash (GL30), this range also includes a mini-photo printer without ink: the GL10. Like Pogo printer that preceded it, this new technology operates GL10 developed by Zink Zero Ink Technology. A technology which, remember, does not use ink or ribbon, but is based on the use of special paper incorporating colored crystals react to heat. Initially, the crystals are colorless and paper is white. After heating the printhead they are tinted and create the picture. Everything is in the paper.
Small format
The absence of ink and the simplicity of the printhead to allow the printer to the brushed metal texture and faux leather in the palm of the hand. This does not prevent it from integrating a rechargeable battery to allow autonomous operation (approx. 40 pictures). GL10 recover the photos either by USB or by Bluetooth connection (from a mobile phone, for example).
The postage stamp-format camera, there is only one step
Note in passing that one of the weaknesses of Pogo, namely the small size photos (5.1 x 7.6 cm) was corrected on the GL10 which now prints photos of 7.6 x 10.1 cm), so in a format twice bigger.
For GL10, Zink Technology has developed a new generation of papers intended to provide brighter colors and more vivid, and better longevity, with a protective layer resistant to water. Its price is unfortunately not yet known. The printer is, meanwhile, announced at a price of around U.S. $ 150, which would probably result in Europe by a teasing price of 150 euros. It will be available from May 2011.
