BMW Pioneered More Than Ever, Smart Mobility |
At the Los Angeles Auto Show, BMW has a coupe version of his future i3. A concept that prefigures a little model series 100% electric and especially unveils connected services that will benefit this model. Like every BMW, the i3 (sedan or coupe) will be entitled to services ConnectedDrive, with an integrated SIM card. The car will connect to the Internet and inform the driver about traffic conditions in real time. However, the services have been adapted to electric propulsion, so that the i3 will include the opportunity to book online charging stations for refueling.
Of course, the navigation system takes into account the vehicle's range to calculate the route, with a circle which form the possible radius of action. But more important, it is also connected to the smartphone of its owner. It is therefore aware of the agenda and travel arrangements. Depending on the destination, the vehicle will recommend to refuel at a halt. During this time, the driver can monitor naturally on the screen of an iPhone or Android phone where his is load.
Mobility services do not stop there. As part of BMW i Ventures subsidiary, the manufacturer has also developed partnerships to enrich its offer. It is for this reason that the application for smartphone BMW i also incorporate pedestrian navigation and information on public transport. Depending on the country, BMW will also link with ParkNow (reservation of parking spaces in San Francisco) or DriveNow carsharing service in Germany (Munich, Cologne, Berlin, Düsseldorf) and the U.S. (Frisco).
