A DVR Freeview controllable from the Net
The Playon! Is it the ultimate media center? With its network capabilities and its TV tuners, one might think.
Initially, the Playon! HD is a multimedia hard decode HD. Its compatibility with various digital formats is also excellent as we determined in our previous testing.
Recording and streaming over
The Playon! HD DVR incorporates the features of its predecessor, the HDMI output, compatibility with some online services, Bittorrent server function, but adds the recording function. The two TNT tuners can watch one program and record a second. Better still, the recording can be programmed from the electronic program guide (EPG), which is not new, but also, what is much more planned and triggered via the Internet. The argument is unstoppable!Skip next to a recording no longer allowed the user who has access to the Internet. Even better, the multimedia content can be read continuously and remotely (streaming) since the HD DVR Playon also serves as a NAS server.
It is just whether the limitations of flow will not pose much problem for the reading, thinking mainly of the video, be made without jerks or slowdowns. Similarly, the quality of the EPG needs to be checked, because it is often the poor relation of this type of device.
The Playon! DVR is available in five versions, from simple media gateway 300 USD, the player-recorder in capacities of hard disk, 500 GB (340 USD), 1 TB (390 USD), 1.5 TB (460 USD) and 2TB (530 USD).
